ARCIS Receives MacArthur Foundation Grant

African Regional Centre for Information Science (ARCIS), University of Ibadan, has received a grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to strengthen staff and infrastructural Capacity through a collaboration between University of Ibadan and the Faculty of Information and Media Studies, University of Western Ontario, Canada. The major components of the grant are:

  • Junior Academic Staff exchange for six months for training and research.
  • Senior Academic Staff exchange (Snr Lecturers and above)- The exchange involves the scholars spending 3 months abroad while the scholars in the University of Western Ontario will come to Nigeria for 3 months.
  • Upgrading the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure at ARCIS. The book and journal facilities of the ARCIS library will be improved.
  • Development of the curriculum of a proposed undergraduate programme in Information Science, to be delivered online through the distance learning centre.
