News and Events

Office of International programmes welcomes Prof. Arthur Sussman, a renowned Lawyer and the Vice President and Secretary of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, to the Department of Public and International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan. He will spend six weeks in UI to lecture graduate students on issues relating to Comparative International Law. He will be speaking at two programmes organized by OIP-
  • Roundtable for prospective MacArthur Foundation Grant awardees on 9 February, 2010 at 10 am at the MacArthur Conference Room. He will be speaking on Establishing International collaborations for Training and Research.
  • Roundtable for Deans, Directors and University Administrators on 10 March, 2010 at 10 am at the MacArthur Conference Room. He will be speaking on Strengthening University Structures for Internationalization.

About OIP, University of Ibadan, Nigeria

Anchored in its rich history as the first University in Nigeria and originally instituted as an independent external college of the University of London 1948, the University of Ibadan (UI) has had a long history of internationalization since its inception. In order to strengthen internationalization of the University of Ibadan, the Office of International Programmes (OIP) was opened in May, 2009.

The vision of OIP is to enlarge the University of Ibadan’s frontiers of international relationship.

Our mission is to enrich global awareness among staff and students, expand the internationalization posture of University of Ibadan, promote a reputable international presence and showcase the University of Ibadan’s role as a leading institution in Africa.

To accomplish the mission, OIP engages in the following:

  • Promoting UI’s vision of internationalization
  • Coordinating and supporting international academic programmes
  • Facilitating capacity building for global citizenship
  • Generating and disseminating information on international opportunities
  • Promoting and sustaining international partnerships
  • Advocating the internationalization of facilities and programmes
