UI hosted Fulbright Scholars and Yoruba flagship programme students.


The University of Ibadan on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 had a welcome cocktail for a visiting professor, Fulbright scholars and students of the Yoruba Flagship Programme who recently arrived at the University.

They are: Professor Ishola Ajiferuke, a Professor of Information Science at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, who is a visiting Professor at the ARCIS.
Prof. Esther Ofulue, University of Wisconsin, who’s a Fulbright scholar at the Department of Biochemistry, and Dr Glenn Odom, Rowan University, NJ who also is a Fulbright scholar at the Department of Theatre Arts, UI and the students of the Yoruba flagship programme.

At the event, Prof Kola Owolabi talked about the uniqueness of the Yoruba Language Programme of the flagship Centre for Yoruba as a Foreign language. He applauded the five students from the University of Wisconsin for taking the initiative to come to UI. Present at the occasion were The University Libarian Dr. B. Oladele, members of the Fulbright Alumni Association, Prof Edith Ajaiyeoba, Dr J.O. Ikhelua, Dr A.T. P. Ajuwape, Dr A.A. Adedapo and the Director, Office of International Programmes, Dr Bola Udegbe, representing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof Tiamiyu, the University PRO, Mrs Adejoke.O.Akinpelu and a host of others.
