The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom invites candidates to apply for the 2011/2012 Commonwealth scholarships. These awards help individuals to pursue advanced academic study in other Commonwealth countries and consequently allow them to make significant contributions to their home countries when they return. These scholarships are open to all disciplines.
Eligibility
To apply for the awards, candidates should:
i) Be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British protected persons.
ii) Be permanently resident in a Commonwealth country other than the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, and Isle of Man.
iii) Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by September/October 2011iv) Hold, by October 2011, a first degree of upper second class Honors standard or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification, which will normally be a Master’s degree.
AND
v) In the fields of Medicine and Dentistry, you must have qualified as a doctor or dentist between October 2001 and 30 September, 2006.
Candidates may apply through their Nomination Institution for the following categories
a) 12-36 months’ support towards completion of either a full-time taught or a doctoral postgraduate qualification at an eligible UK institution.
b) 12 months’ non-degree study in the United Kingdom on a Split-Site basis to aid the completion of a doctoral degree undertaken at a University in the candidate’s home country.
c) 6 months’ Clinical training in Medicine or Dentistry ( Only for candidates in developing Countries)
Candidates are encouraged to explore research areas that develop the priorities of their countries, institution and the Department For International Development (DFID) such as concerning: Climate change, global economic growth, fragile and conflict affected State, international institutional reform and building our common future.
Submission of applications
Interested candidates are expected to complete Electronic Application System (EAS) and submit copies to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), University of Ibadan, on or before Wednesday 30, September, 2010. Candidates should note that the Commission does not accept direct applications.
